Blogathon 1: Writing and Speaking the Mother Tongue

How different are the written and spoken forms of your first language?
എന്റെ ഭാഷ മലയാളം ആണ്.ഇതില്‍ സംസരികുനതും എഴുതുനതും മുഴുവന്‍ വ്യത്യാസം ഉണ്ട്.കേരള യിലെ മിക്ക സ്ടലങ്ങളിലും സംസാരിക്കുന്ന മലയാളം വ്യതസ്തമാണ്.പക്ഷെ പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍  എല്ലാം അച്ചടി മലയാളം ത്തില്‍ ആണ് എഴുതിയിരിക്യുനത് അന്നാലും ചില പുസ്തകത്തില്‍ നമുക്ക് വളരെ സിമ്പിള്‍ അയ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന മലയാളം കാണാം
My first language is Malayalam .The written and spoken forms are totally different .Different places in Kerala has different dialects while using spoken form.But majority of the books will be written in formal malayalam ( we call this achadi malayalam) though there are few books which uses the spoken form in conveying the story/Novel.

If you want children to become familiar with their first language, which form would you look for in children's books - formal or informal? Why?
എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായത്തില്‍ രണ്ടുട്യ്പേ ബുക്സ് ഉം നല്ലതാണു. ഫോര്‍മല്‍ ബുക്സ് മലയാളം എന്നാ ഭാഷയെ അടുത്തറിയാന്‍ സഹായിക്കും ഇന്ഫോര്മല്‍ ബുക്സ് കുട്ടികളുടെ സംസാരം ഇമ്പ്രോവേ  ചെയ്യാന്‍ സഹായിക്കും
I would look for both the books -I love formal books as it helps my kid to understand Malayalam as a language and informal books as it helps her in improving spoken skills.Both helps in their own way.

ഞങ്ങള്‍ ബാംഗ്ലൂര്‍ ആണെങ്കിലും നങ്ങളുടെ മോള്‍ക്ക്‌ മലയാളം പടിപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് .എപ്പോ അഞ്ചു വയസായി.എപ്പോ നന്നായി ഫോര്‍മല്‍ ഉം ഇന്ഫോര്മാലും അയ മലയാളം അറിയാം അന്നാലും ഫോര്‍മല്‍ ബുക്സ് ഇല ചില വോര്‍ദ്സ്‌ കണ്‍ഫ്യൂഷന്‍ ആകാറുണ്ട്
Though we live in Bangalore ,we made sure that our kid learnt our Mother tongue .She is 5 years old  and can understand the language used in both formal and informal books though she gets confused with few words in formal books.
